How to Care for Your Stray Hero Pieces

Your piece is made to last. Five rules keep it that way.
Our garments are printed direct-to-garment (DTG). The ink goes into the fibres instead of sitting on top, so the print moves and breathes with the fabric and holds up wash after wash, if you treat it right.
The rules
Wash inside out. Always. It keeps the print away from friction and protects the colour.
30 °C maximum. Hot water breaks down the ink and shrinks the cotton.
No tumble dryer. Heat is the enemy of the print. Hang or lay flat to dry.
Never iron the print. If you must iron, turn the piece inside out or put a cloth between iron and print.
No bleach. It ruins fabric and print alike.
By piece
Hoodies (AS Colour 5161): 80% cotton, 20% recycled polyester, brushed inside. The brushed lining can shed lint at first; wash with dark colours.
Tees (Comfort Colors 1717): 100% ring-spun cotton, garment-dyed. The dye gives the washed-in look. Cold wash keeps it.
Sweatshirts and Story Tees (Stanley/Stella): organic cotton. Same rules as above.
Headwear: hand wash cold, reshape while damp, air dry. Never in the machine.
The first wash
Wash a new piece alone or with similar dark colours. Garment-dyed tees can release a little dye the first time. That is normal and doesn't affect the print.
