Lost Places — a grey tabby alone in a forgotten room

Behind the Design: Lost Places

Some places keep going after everyone has left.

A theatre where one light still burns on the stage. A library whose shelves gave up years ago. A platform the last train left a long time back. Whoever goes looking for places like these knows the feeling: you stand in a room that carried on without you.

Lost Places is built from that feeling.

The three rooms

The Theatre. A grey tabby alone in the stalls. The seats are rotting, the house is black, and a single warm light refuses to go out. No audience. No reason.

The Library. Books gone soft with damp, shelves caved in, and one small cat facing the only lamp nobody switched off. Surrounded by everything that got left behind. Alone, not lost.

The Underground. Cracked tile, an empty platform, one amber signal far down the tunnel. The cat waits anyway. Not for rescue. No one's coming, and that was never the point.

Places that don't exist

The urbex scene protects its locations for a reason. Tourism and vandalism have ruined too many of them. The code is simple: take nothing but pictures, leave nothing but footprints. A shirt showing a real, recognisable place would work against that.

So none of these rooms exist. The images are created digitally and photoreal, not photographed. Forgotten places as they could be, with a grey cat who was there long before you.

The look

Near-monochrome, cinematic, heavy grain. Each image has exactly one light source, and it is warm. Amber is the only colour in frame.

The tee

Printed large on the front of the Stanley/Stella Creator 2.0: 180 g/m² organic combed cotton, smooth hand, medium fit. Made after you order it, in the EU.

Somebody left the light on. Somebody stayed.
